In February the whole school took part in a competition organised by the registered charity “Show Racism the Red Card” It was a powerful and fun way to engage the staff, governors, parents and children’s interest in anti-racism.

The charity’s aims are to enable young children to understand the causes and consequences of racism using professional footballers as anti-racist role models. At school we focused on celebrating cultural diversity and developing our school’s ethos “We Are All Different, We Are All Special, We Can All Achieve.”

A poster made by six children in Penguin class was chosen as the overall winner for the school and was entered into the national competition. Over 900 schools took part in this year’s competition and the poster was awarded second prize in the Year 1-4 art and creative writing category.

The 6 children have been invited to an Awards Ceremony that will be held at Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club on Tuesday 28th April. The ceremony will feature current and former professional footballers and the children will receive some great prizes. We are very proud to win this competition again and very excited about the award ceremony.
