Design Technology

The DT curriculum at Elmwood encourages children to become independent, creative, problem solvers and thinkers. Children are provided with opportunities to use creative thinking and design within a defined purpose and real-life outcome.
Through a variety of creative and practical activities, children are taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in the process of designing and making. Where relevant, skills and knowledge learnt in other subjects are applied to design technology lessons, for example measuring (length and weight) and properties of materials. As part of the design process children are given time to reflect on projects made, identify strengths and how elements could be change to improve designs.
