Uniform

Elmwood Infant School has a simple, affordable uniform designed to be practical for young children.
No branded items are compulsory, and families may purchase unbranded alternatives from any retailer.

Uniform Requirements
Tops
  • White or light blue polo shirt

  • White or blue shirt/blouse (open neck or standard)

  • Navy jumper or cardigan (optional branded versions available)

Bottoms
  • Grey trousers, shorts, skirt or tunic

  • Blue & white checked summer dress (optional)

Socks & Tights
  • Plain white, navy, grey or black

Footwear & Coats
  • Sensible black or dark blue school shoes

  • Any sensible school‑type coat

  • EYFS pupils may wear Wellington boots for wet weather/outdoor learning (school shoes must be brought to change into)

PE Kit
  • Navy or black shorts/joggers

  • Plain yellow T‑shirt or optional branded T‑shirt

  • Trainers for all PE activities

Hair & Jewellery
  • Long hair must be tied back for safety

  • Hair may be styled in any way appropriate for school

  • Only small stud earrings permitted

Modesty & Fit
  • Clothing should be comfortable, safe and suitable for active play

  • Skirts, dresses and shorts should be modest in length

Bags
  • Any sensible school bag

  • School book bag (£4.50) available from the school office

Where to Buy Uniform

Families may purchase uniform from any high street retailer.

Optional branded items (sweatshirts, PE T‑shirts, etc.) are available from:

Second‑Hand Uniform

Elmwood Infant School supports families by offering second‑hand uniform:

  • Termly second‑hand uniform sales

  • Dates shared with families in advance

  • Discreet requests can be made via the school office at any time

  • Second‑hand uniform is available at our Family Morning coffee time on the last Friday of every half term. Families can browse good‑quality items in the hall from 9.15am to 9.45am.

Equality & Adaptations

Elmwood Infant School follows the Equality Act 2010. Families may request reasonable adaptations to uniform for:

  • Religious needs

  • Sensory or physical needs

  • Protected characteristics

  • Cost concerns

Expectations

  • Pupils must wear correct uniform daily (except on designated non‑uniform days)

  • Parents/carers ensure items are clean, labelled and in good condition
