Literacy

Literacy Support

Keep up and catch up group activities will be delivered to children who need extra support in reading and phonics. It is led by a trained adult and revisits key literacy objectives to reinforce learning so that childrens are able to participate. 

1:1 Reading / Writing Support

This is a programme developed by the Fisher Family Trust to support the development of early reading and writing skills. It is led by a trained adult and runs for 15 minutes 3 times a week.

Numeracy

Five Minute Box

This is a multi-sensory system for teaching early numeracy skills. It is led by an adult within the classroom.

Catch Up Maths

Small groups of identified children in year 2 receive extra support from a trained adult once a week before or after school to revisit key numeracy objectives and reinforce learning so that children are able to participate fully in whole-class sessions.

Mastering Number

Children will have four extra number sessions every week. These sessions last for 10/15 minutes and the whole class will attend. This project aims to secure firm foundations in the development of good number sense for all children from Reception through to Year 1 and Year 2. The aim over time is that children will leave KS1 with fluency in calculation and a confidence and flexibility with number. Attention will be given to key knowledge and understanding needed in Reception classes, and progression through KS1 to support success in the future.
